The record
Recorded over a handful of January days, this Verve session pairs Holiday with Ben Webster's breathy tenor and Harry Edison's muted trumpet on a set built for slow rooms and last calls. Youthful bounce gives way here to something plainer and harder won.

Pressings
Both mixes date to 1958: the mono MGV-8257, with deep groove, is the earliest on file here, and the stereo went out as MG VS-6021. Verve renumbered the stereo to MG VS - 68257 in 1959, which trips people up. Classic Records reissued MG VS-6021 in 1995 and again in 2001, Analogue Productions cut AP-6021-45 at 45 rpm in 2012, and Verve's own B0036831-01 came in 2023.
