The record
A rare mid-'50s showcase for a woodwind doubler rarely given the spotlight -- Ortega runs the gamut from alto to bass clarinet backed by a crack Hank Jones-Addison Farmer-Ed Thigpen rhythm section. Herald Records' small-group jazz output was slim, making this multi-horn outing a genuine curio of the era.
