The record
A mid-'60s German quintet date where Mangelsdorff's trombone threads through Thai-influenced melodic material, folding Ramwong rhythms into hard-driving post-bop. Kronberg and Sauer's reed frontline gives the session its bite, a snapshot of Frankfurt jazz reaching outward well ahead of the fusion era.
